Holiday shopping has taken over New York City. And while Fifth Avenue is jam packed with visitors eager to browse department store windows (and maybe their wares), pop-up markets are some of the best places to find completely unique (that is, not mass produced) holiday gifts from smaller artists and artisans, many of which come with a story.

This December, several LGBTQ+ themed holiday markets are curating LGBTQ+ vendors to showcase their wares for gifting everyone on your list (including yourself), plus a fun and rewarding shopping experience. Here are the markets to add your December agenda (and no, none of them charge an admission fee).

Dave’s Lesbian Bar 5th Annual Holiday Market

One of this Queens-based pop-ups biggest events of the year, Dave’s Lesbian Bar is back at Bohemian Beer Garden on Saturday, December 13 for a holiday market hosting over 150 LGBTQ+ vendors. A $10 suggested donation will be going to Astoria Food Pantry, and includes all day access to live queer band performances, plus access to every vendor and more queer carolers on the outdoor stage, warm cider and mulled wine for purchase, soup shots from Queer Soup Night, screen printing your own merch, air hockey and more bar games, and more. 29-19 24th Ave., Queens, 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.

LGBTQ+ Holiday Market

Saturday, December 13th is a big day for gay holiday shopping in Astoria! 31st Ave Open Streets will be transforming the avenue into a pedestrian zone and an LGBTQ+ holiday market stocked with goods from over 25 local queer vendors vending clothing, art, accessories, candles, and much more. Dave’s Lesbian Bar helped curate the vendor selection and underwrote tabling fees for all artists to help boost their profits. 1 p.m - 5 p.m., 31st Ave from 33rd to 35th Street, Queens

Queer Market at ANIMAL

Animal, a queer cocktail bar in Williamsburg, is hosting a maker’s market on Saturday, December 13, spotlighting independent LGBTQ+ makers, artists, and designers. NYC nightlife icon Ron Like Hell will also entertain with music from 4 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Attendees can shop one-of-a-kind fashion, ceramics, art, and goods from a curated lineup of queer vendors including: Wear and Tear (hand-deconstructed second-hand garments that make the discarded feel precious again), SACRA Events (myth-inspired art, prints, and wearable pieces, building queer ritual and community, Danwich (ceramics by Brooklyn artist Daniel Williams), Monzlapur (genderfluid designs rooted in Sudanese and African Arab heritage), Raspaditos (Mexican heritage inspired slow fashion using only second-hand and deadstock materials), Betty Nylon (colorful, playful accessories and apparel made in Philadelphia), Bump & Grind (erotic collage goods), Vivir Sabrosa (Indigequeer food, culture, and land-back centered artistry) and Andreas Carver of The Aphrodisiac Kitchen (cookbook zines, writing, and kitchen-inspired goods). 307 Meeker Ave, Brooklyn from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Lavender Market: Winter Solstice Edition

This holiday themed winter market will feature over fifteen local lesbian vendors offering jewelry, leather designs, perfumes, prints, vintage wares, and more. Held at Boyfriend Coop in Bushwick, the event will host a free gift wrapping station, free community crafts, tarot, clothing mending, raffles, goodies, plus drinks and snacks for purchase on Sunday, December 21. 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., 1157 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn
